Here are some things you could do right now.

Make the decision.

Decide now that you are going to reduce your plastic bag dependency.Go cold turkey or just start to cut down.
Re-use your plastic bags

Put a few plastic bags in the car/work bag/handbag/school bag/bike panniers/jacket, so that you've always got one when you need one. Next time you go shopping take some bags with you. The good thing about plastic bags is that they scrunch up really small, so you can pop one in your bag or pocket

Make your own re-usable bag

Check out my mum's instructions for making your own bag. Send us photo's/examples of the way you do it. We'll publish the best.

Get a re-usable bag

Maybe you've already got something suitable, but see if you can get something that you can use again and again. Cotton bags are good, but cotton production has it's own problems (see Panna.org and the WWF) See the Alternatives section for people selling re-usable bags.

Influence a friend

Well, what are friends for!

Influence a stranger Take an extra bag shopping next time, and pass it on.

Tell someone you're not happy

Let the supermarket, your MP, the share holders,... know that you'd like to see an end to plastic bags, and ask them what they are going to do about it.

Get your town/city/village/country to ban plastic bags

You wouldn't be the first!

Buy a plastic manufacturing business and convert it to manufacturing a more sustainable product
